John Kerr & Son Dairy have been in business for over 100 years and are still strongly committed to providing the very best services for the local people of Dundee. It was founded by my great, great Granda, Sandy Kerr in 1900 where he opened the doors of his farm (now St John school grounds) where he used traditional methods of dairy farming. In those days, milk was delivered door to door by horse and cart, with the horses ready to go at 4am every morning 7 days a week 365 days a year - rain or shine! The business survived both world wars and continues to thrive, despite many changes in technology, customer tastes and farming methods. There have been many memory and signifant dates for us through the years including the day the dairy farm was sold and we moved into a brand new high quality state of the art for the time, dairy factory in 1961.
We operated from this dairy for over 40 years. Have a look at the photographs to see the dairy move through 5 generations from my great great Granda, Sandy to his son, Johnny Kerr to his son Ian Kerr to my dad Kelvin Kerr. Me next – I hope!
